Transforming A Small Bathroom Into A Relaxing Oasis

This small bathroom remodel turns out so good! This project included removing the existing plastic wall panels and bathtub to create a brand new shower and the removal of the existing floor tiles in the bathroom. The biggest challenge was to re-arrange the plumbing in order to accommodate the needs of the new tiled shower including the reposition of the drain.

To keep a neutral tone and a clean look, I used lots of whites, grays, and to add contrast we used blacks on shower fixtures and a modern black drain as well. I also used black on the wall mirror, on the sink faucet, and the light fixture over the bathroom vanity.

For the shower I chose a white 3 x 12 subway tile, staggered. And for the shower floor, I used a charcoal penny porcelain tile. It made such a good contrast with the tile I selected for the bathroom floor!  Speaking of bathroom floors, did you noticed the black grout on the bathroom floor? I decided to use a white modern hexagon porcelain tile on the bathroom floor to add a different pattern and bring a little drama with the black grout. I loved the way it turned out!

Using a neutral tone gives you more options when it comes to decorating your space.  For this bathroom, I wanted to bring in natural elements, soft greens, soft grays, and textures –like the woven rug and basket to keep towels reachable- while keeping a well-balanced feeling and a relaxed environment. Bathrooms don’t have to be all about function. By adding certain amenities -like a teak shower stool with your favorite products- you can transform your bathroom into a calming oasis that serves as a retreat from everyday stressors.
